Cotton is a plant and native shrub to both tropical and subtropical regions around the world. This includes both North & South America, Africa, Egypt, and India, as well as a large diversity of cotton species found in Mexico, Australia, and Africa.
Although cotton is a plant, it’s important to note that not all cotton used in products such as bedding is organic. The reason for this is because during the plantation of cotton, farmers may use synthetic agricultural chemicals such as fertilizers and pesticides to treat them.

Harvesting | Natural defoliation from freezing temperatures or through the use of water management. | Deflation induced with toxic chemicals |
Production | Warp fibers stabilized using double plying ornon-toxic, cornstartch | Warp fibers stabilized using toxic waxes. |
Whitening | Safe peroxide is used. | Chlorine bleaching creates toxic by-products, that are released into the environment. |
Finishing | Soft scour in warm water with soda ash for, PH of 7.5-8. | Hot water, synthetic surfactants, additional chemicals (sometimes formaldehyde). |
